How did this come to our attention?

We ask the Federal Government to let Fulani herdmen spend their own money to save their business. If public money is spent on a type of farming, we demand that all Nigerian farmers should also demand to be supported to move their operations to government-owned facilities.

Nigerians have questioned why the Federal and State Government would spend public funds on Fulani herders who are private businessemen to establish grazing lands using public funds. Instead, the fair way to help the kinsmen of President Muhammadu Buhari is through the establishment of privately-owned ranches as part of solutions to frequent clashes and loss of lives and property associated with the open grazing of cattle.

Ruga Settlement, Cattle Production, Fulani Herdsmen Killing, Private Cattle Business

Nigeria is one of the few countries remaining where cattle herders still roam the streets. The country just failed to develop. Herdsmen, many of whom are not even legally in Nigeria, run their animals through private farms and destroy everything along the way. This has raised ethnic tensions as clashes have increased as land owners assert their rights to their ancenstral lands.

  • Ensure government does not favor one economic sector over others
  • End the violence across Nigeria
  • Protect the rights of farmers and land owners under the law
  • Stop nepotism and favoritism in government
  • Assure Nigerians that they have equality under the law

Cattle Breeding is Just Another Private Business

Rather than try to force the Ruga plan down the throats of Nigerians, and by extension, impose Fulani tribesmen on the old and existing non-Fulani tribal communities in other regions of the country and grab lands in the South, the government show neutrality and encourage individuals across the country to go into cattle ranching in their various states and regions.

July, 2019

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has suspended the implementation of its Ruga settlements initiative after a week of backlash from the public.

This followed resistance from most middle belt and souther states, which kicked against the plan by the Federal Government to establish ‘Ruga settlements’ for Fulani herdsmen in their states.

March, 2019

10 people were confirmed killed in Nandu-Gbok village of Sanga LGA after an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Residents suspect it is in revenge for an earlier attack where they say at least 11 cows and 28 sheep belonging to Fulani were slaughtered in the same area before the election
